It's almost June and that means it's time to kick-off our first annual summer Knit Along series, Welcome to the Lake! In Spokane, we are located in the middle of lake country (well, okay, so my husband is from Minnesota and he may contest that statement but we have a LOT of beautiful mountain lakes around here). When I first moved to Spokane, my colleagues joked that come Friday in the summer, the city clears out and everyone heads to the lake. I, oh naive newcomer, said, which lake? Turns out, it really doesn't matter. They are all stunning, full of sun, clear skies, and majestic mountain peaks. The list reads like a who's who and "the best" depends on which lake your family has been going to for generations: Lake Coeur d'Alene, Hayden Lake, Diamond Lake, Priest Lake, Lake Pond Oreille, etc..
Much of summer at AGY is spent coming up with light, quick knits during the week for travel time and relaxation by the lake on the weekends. We thought this summer we would start an annual Knit Along that focuses on these very projects. While we are calling it Welcome to the Lake, of course, many of you are headed to the beach, to the mountains, family reunions, weddings, conferences, etc. These projects are perfect for that travel time as well! We will be running the Knit Along from June through August. There will be a different theme each month and flexibility to choose which exact project you are working on within that theme. Yarns you choose for the monthly Knit Along project will be discounted 20% off through the first week of the month. We will be running a discussion on our Ravelry A Grand Yarn group thread so be sure to join us there to follow along as you work through your projects! For the Welcome to the Lake series, you can use stash yarn to participate and all finished projects will be eligible for drawings for prizes.
